MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL KATHLEEN SULLIVAN
September 8, 2017
Time Management
We are up and running full force. Assignments are due, quizzes are occurring, and a first round of tests are done. Managing all the responsibilities at school and all the extracurricular activities our students are involved in can be a challenge. This year we are working to help students manage their responsibilities and hopefully show them strategies that will result in less stress for them. Each Monday we will have students check Skyward for missing assignments, check email in case there are any important updates from teachers, and look at their teachers' websites to figure out what they will have for school work that week. On Monday, September 11, students will be filling out a time management sheet like the one I will be attaching to this message. They will be recording the time they spend in extracurricular activities and their anticipated time for studying and homework, with the hope that they will be able to identify times they may need to start working on things earlier than the night before if they are busy. This is such a valuable skill, and our goal is to equip our students with time management skills so that they are not waiting till the last minute, which can be stressful for them and the whole house! I encourage you to sit down and visit with your child about this.

HEALTHY STUDENTS
For the month of May, we will be focusing on Responsible Decision Making or Choices. In order to support your teen with good decision-making skills, give your teen the opportunity to talk about their problem in their own words, visit with your teen about choices, help your teen identify and compare choices and consequences, and finally let your teen make the decision and carry it out.
To learn more about how to support teen with good decision making skills read “Helping Your Teen Make Responsible Choices”.
