HCMS

MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL KATHLEEN SULLIVAN

Week One is in the Books!

We have had an awesome week here at HCMS! Our focus has been on getting to know our students and having them get to know each other. The students have done an amazing job figuring out where to go. It has been fun getting to know our 6th graders and new students and to see our returning 7th and 8th graders.

Two brand new things students have are the SMART Tag and the iPad sleeves. Students are to have their SMART tags at all times. Students may wear them with the provided lanyard, clip them to their backpack, or carry them in their backpack. As long as students have the tag with them, whatever system they choose is fine. They will need them for purchasing lunch, riding the bus, and checking out books. This will make those processes more efficient.  Students were also issued new iPad protective sleeve this week. These are theirs to keep. Students must have these sleeves on the iPads to keep them protected and to result in far less damage.

Please plan to come meet all your student's teachers on Monday for 6th grade and Tuesday for 7th and 8th grade. We will begin with a general assembly at 5:30 in the large gym and then proceed to students' schedules after that.

Have a restful and dry weekend!

COUGAR CLUB

COUGAR CLUB NEWS 8/25/17

WHAT IS COUGAR CLUB?

We're parents from three different schools coming together to support Hill Country Middle School staff and students! Our committees, volunteers and board plan and implement school events and activities like Carnival, Dances, Career Day and monthly teacher lunches. We raise money through our Friends of Hill Country fundraiser (going on now), Cougar Club membership dues and community partners. These funds are used for educational purposes, scholarships, school materials and events as determined by our Campus Leadership Team. All families are automatically in the club, but the Cougar Club simply can't exist without financial support and participation from our parents.

COUGARS IN THE KNOW

Our committees want to help our busy families to stay informed of current and upcoming events. Check out our new website. Add hcmscougarclub.com to your phone homepage for quick access.

A NOTE FROM OUR PRESIDENT:

Welcome, new and returning families! It was great seeing so many of you and your kiddos at the 6th grade Swim Party and the Hill Country Hello last week. Those events would not have been possible without our amazing crew of volunteers! Special thanks to the following:

Jessica Kizer - 6th Grade Pool Party

Cristina Feldott & Aimee Petty – Hill Country Hello

Betsy Hicks & Monika Phenix – SpiritWear

Jody Kane – Online store

Christine Browning & Carrie Shapiro - Treasurers

Zelda Minors – PE wear

If you haven't already, please purchase your Cougar Club family membership, pay your student fees and make your contribution to our Friends of Hill Country Fundraising Campaign – as mentioned above, those funds are used throughout the year for things like the crossing guard, bus transportation for all school events, teacher appreciation, library support, along with teacher and department start-up funds to enrich the learning environment.

Cougar Club meets once a month and our first meeting is Thursday, September 7, at 8:30am in the Hill Country Library. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend!

Here's to a great year!
