September 21, 2018 MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL KATHLEEN SULLIVAN Guidance Update This past week our counselors did their first guidance lesson with the students. This is something they will do monthly throughout the year, and I will update you about each of the lessons afterward. This first lesson was about bullying: the definitions, how harmful it is to the victims, consequences and how to report it. As the counselors shared with the students, we take a zero tolerance stance at Hill Country when it comes to bullying. Students were instructed that there are a variety of ways to report bullying that is occurring to themselves or to others. They can obviously notify any trusted adult at HCMS, they can tell you and you could reach out to a counselor or administrator, or we have an awesome resource called Quick Report. This is an online form that can be accessed on our HCMS web page under the Resources tab (https://www.eanesisd.net/quickreport). Anyone may make a report in this manner. It can be anonymous or those reporting can list their name. These reports come directly and immediately to me, the principal. The sooner we can get involved to help put an end to the situation the better!
Homecoming Game Tonight is the Westlake Homecoming game, which is an exciting time. Please note that the high school band will perform after the game due to the Homecoming regalia. This means that students in The Pit will need to be picked up at The Pit gate by an adult. It does not have to be their parent, but students may not just leave. Hope to see everyone there. Go, Chaps!
HCMS to host author, ALAN GRATZ!
Parents, this is a HUGE deal! Alan Gratz has written many award winning books: Refugee, Prisoner B3087, Code of Honor, to name a few. His new book, Grenade, is a historical fiction set on the island of Okinawa during WWII. It is amazing!
