MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL KATHLEEN SULLIVAN

Hello, UIL Academic Competitors and Parents!

Tomorrow is the BIG day at Hudson Bend Middle School!

The address is: 15600 Lariat Trail, Austin, TX 78734

BUSES/DROPOFF/PICKUP
We will meet here at Hill Country at 8 a.m. if you are planning to ride the bus, please be here by then to check in. We will be on the bus with attendance taken and ready to leave by 8:15 a.m. Please make sure you are here if you want to ride the bus! Some of our coaches will be riding the buses with you.

If you are being dropped off at the competition, you need to be at Hudson Bend Middle School, 15600 Lariat Trail, Austin, TX 78734., at least 30 minutes before your event time (see the chart below).

Parents may pick you up after your event, but they must come in to sign you out of the competition. We can not release students to anyone but their OWN parents. Students may not ride home with others. Parents must come in to the school to sign you out. This is for your safety and school accountability. We don't want to leave anyone behind or search for someone we think we need on the bus home.

The bus will return to HCMS after the competition, but the return time is tricky... We will stay at HBMS until all of our competitors are finished. If we are able to send a bus back early, we will. We should all be back at HCMS by 3

WHAT TO WEAR
Please wear a BLUE Hill Country Shirt for all NON-SPEAKING events (if you are in a speaking event, dress nicely - like you are going to a nice restaurant to celebrate some thing). No shorts, t-shirts, or tattered clothes.

WHAT TO BRING
Bring your best attitude and winning spirit.

Bring something with you to do, read, or play. Bring snacks if you would like. Bring money if you want to buy something from the food trucks or snack table.

Thank you for being a part of our competition! We couldn't be as wonderful as we are without YOU!

IPC:
In 8th grade, students have the opportunity to enroll in an advanced science course called Integrated Physics and Chemistry (IPC). In order to qualify for this course, students must be enrolled in Algebra I (or a higher level math) in their 8th grade year, and pass an assessment covering the 8th grade science TEKS. For students eligible to enroll, directions on how to enroll your child will be emailed home via Skyward during the week of April 1st - 5th.

Math Credit by Exams (CBE)
Students can take a Credit by Exam to advance in certain levels of mathematics. Letters will be e-mailed home next week through Skyward to all students that qualify for the Credit by Exam. More information may be found at: https://sites.google.com/eanesisd.net/eisd-parent-portal-for-cbe/home
